POLICE commissioner Zoe Metcalfe is asking residents for their views on who should be the next chief constable for North Yorkshire Police.

At the end of March next year, the current chief constable will retire, and it is the job of Mrs Metcalfe to appoint her successor.

As part of the process, Mrs Metcalfe is asking people in York and North Yorkshire to tell her what is important to them and what should be the priorities of the new chief constable.

Mrs Metcalfe said: “The role of chief constable of North Yorkshire Police is a terrific opportunity for an inspirational, visionary chief police officer.

“The process for selection will be open, rigorous, exciting and challenging – and will involve a broad range of local and national key partner organisations so that York and North Yorkshire can be sure that we have the very best of police leadership for our communities.”

She added: “I welcome applications from those who relish the opportunity to work closely with the office of the Police, Fire, and Crime Commissioner and the future combined authority team."

Residents, businesses and people working in York and North Yorkshire are invited to have their say online at: https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/nyorkshireccsurvey/
