AN exhibition of new work by renowned ceramic artist Anna Lambert is to be shown at Gavagan Art in Settle Town Hall.

Her distinctive earthenware reflects a connection with her locality, North Yorkshire, and its fragile and constantly changing environment. She responds to places as diverse as wild, bleak moorland and bird-filled hedgerows.

Her most recent pieces explore her ideas about how these local moors, woodlands and valley bottoms are undergoing transformation as a result of changes to climate and land use and include sculptural and platter pieces for display on walls, tables or shelves.

Anna has recently had work displayed at the prestigious Ceramic Art London, a leading fair for contemporary ceramics, and also exhibits at the Scottish Gallery Edinburgh, Contemporary Ceramics London, and galleries across Europe and the USA.

Anna shares her Cross Hills studio with artist David Thomas, who will also be showing his work at Gavagan Art alongside new work by abstract landscape painter Jacquie Denby, who is based in Grassington.

David's paintings are done in oil paint on board, panel or canvas and most are still-life compositions, observed from the objects in front of him. Jacquie is inspired by dramatic limestone scenery around her and last year won the Harrogate Open at the Mercer Art Gallery with her painting, The Resonant Rumour of Sun.

Mary Gavagan, owner and curator of Gavagan Art, said: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to put together an exhibition of such high quality work in Settle.

"Our visitors travel from quite a wide area - The Lakes, Lancaster, East Lancashire, Harrogate, Ripon, York, and further afield. This is a wonderful opportunity for them to see work by such renowned artists.”

The exhibition opens on Saturday and runs until Saturday, May 30.
