POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a collision between two vehicles on the A65 at Settle yesterday (Wednesday).

A red Ford Ka and a white Mercedes van collided at 11.50am, resulting in the 30 year old driver of the car being airlifted to hospital and the road being closed for almost three hours.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: "The driver of the car, a 30 year old woman was extracted from her vehicle by the Fire and Rescue service and taken to Leeds General Infirmary by air ambulance with what is believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

"The driver of the van, a 52 year old man, was taken to Airedale Hospital, Steeton, to be checked over."

The road was closed while emergency services and the Highways Agency responded to the incident, and was reopened at 2.48pm.

"Officers would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision, saw either of the vehicles in the area prior to the collision or was travelling in the vicinity and has any dash-cam footage of the vehicles to contact them," said the spokesperson.
