SETTLE took their leave of the North West League with a convincing win on Saturday, showing what might have been possible had their season not been ruined by the weather.
IT was a weekend to forget for Settle 1st XI, losing in the Craven derby at Barnoldswick in the Senior Premiership, followed by another rain-sodden unfinished Hamer Cup final.
AFTER weeks of cancellations, Settle’s senior teams enjoyed three matches in glorious weather with close finishes all round.
SETTLE 1st XI had yet another weekend wiped out by the weather. So far this season they have had nearly 30% of their matches abandoned, more than any other side in the league, making it impossible to get any traction in the table.
HEAVY downpours on Saturday morning left Marshfield unplayable and caused the NWCL game between Settle and Oswaldtwistle Emmanuel to be cancelled.
IN a home match distorted by several rain breaks, Settle lost to Farnworth Social by the narrowest of margins.
WITH the entire North West League championship fixtures washed out for the second weekend in a row, two Craven teams had a brief chance to relieve the gloom in a T20 derby at Barnoldswick.
AFTER a disappointing away result on Saturday, Settle bounced back next day with an emphatic home cup win against the unbeaten league leaders.
