MIDGLEY Motor Cars of Skipton has teamed up with Coniston Hotel and Estate in its off road driving experience.

The Coniston 4x4 Driving Experience was launched early last year following the move of the Land Rover franchise to Broughton Hall.

The partnership brings together two family-run businesses and is expected to bring many more visitors to the area.

Coniston general manager Simon Hesson said: “The company has initially supplied us with three fantastic new 4x4 vehicles, a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Hybrid, the latest series 5 L200 warrior pick-up and a Isuzu D-Max. This will enable Midgley Motors' customers to really test the vehicles’ performance on a purpose-built off-road course."

And training and events manager Andrew Phyn, who hails from the New Zealand adventure tourism industry and has a background in off-road driving in agriculture, military and rescue environments, added: “The L200 and the D-max are as capable as any 4x4 but with the benefit of comfort and the ability to carry a ton on their backs.

“The chance to test these modern pick-ups against the existing Land Rover Defenders that we have at The Coniston 4x4 is very exciting."

The hotel recently won Welcome to Yorkshire's White Rose award for business tourism and is a previous winner of the large hotel of the year award.
