GARDEN waste collected from householders in Craven and recycled into compost is now on sale.

Yorwaste, along with its sister company SJB Recycling, recently launched the new Yorganics compost.

Made entirely from recycled waste, it is peat free, source locally and is accredited to the British Standards Institution, which recognises the production of high quality compost.

The compost is being sold in either 40-litre garden-handy bags, and also in bulk for the agricultural and horticultural sector.

Matt Wilkinson, head of marketing and sales at Yorwaste, said: “We launched Yorganics at the Great Yorkshire Show and were absolutely delighted with the interest in it from farmers, retailers and members of the public.

“It’s biggest selling point is that it is a hundred per cent recycled, peat free, locally-sourced and produced compost which meets high, exacting national standards for quality.

“It can be used in the garden to help vegetables and plants grow and research has shown that by introducing it into agricultural soil it will significantly increase crop yields, as well as being fully sustainable.”

The compost is currently on sale at various outlets across Yorkshire, with the closest at the moment as Harpers Aggregates, Harrogate, and Sam Turner and Sons, Northallerton.

Sam Turner, of Sam Turner and Sons, said: “We are delighted to be involved with promoting a local sustainable, eco-friendly product like this.”

Further stockists will be added in the coming months.
