THE Mill Shop is celebrating 25 years trading in Rope Walk one of the most historic areas of Skipton.

Janet Collins, who took over the fashion outlet eight years ago, is holding a special celebratory week between October 24 and 28 with a 25 percent discount on everything on the 25th.

The owners have also dug out a picture of the original opening ceremony back in 1991 to mark the occasion, and shared it with the Craven Herald.

Janet prides herself on having steered the business through tough times and "coming out still smiling."

An ex-president of Skipton Chamber of Trade, Janet said: “It’s all about making our ladies feel and look wonderful. Our service is so important and my team love helping customers create a complete look. ”

Janet took over Beryl’s Shoes when it was set to close last year due to retirement, seizing the opportunity to keep alive what has become one of Skipton’s oldest and well established shoe shops.

Quality brands, Lotus and Marco Tozzi were now on sale complementing the clothing and accessories on display.

Simone Jolly, their longest serving employee has been looking after their customers since day one and is still as passionate about how unique the Mill Shop is.

“We have a fantastic range of clothing and it’s sensibly priced for today’s modern woman," she said.

Shirley Amadeo has been at the Mill Shop over five years as merchandiser responsible for the way the shop looks and in making the displays unique and enticing to the customer.

Like Janet, Shirley has come from a retail merchandising background and is a key to the success of the business.

The latest addition to the team is Sharon Blood who has a wealth of experience in retail.“Not only does she support the others on the team, she loves putting outfits together for customers who are looking for inspiration – a skill in its own right,” said Janet.
