AN ELDERLY woman from Gravesend was taken to hospital after a fire started in her kitchen on New Years Day.
The woman, of Lorton Close, was cooking in her kitchen when her oven caught fire. When firefighters arrived, she was given oxygen and taken to Darent Valley Hospital.
A Kent fire brigade spokesman said: We were called out at 9.20pm to Lorton Close and had to give the woman oxygen because she was suffering from smoke inhalation.
We got the fire under control within 45 minutes, but it left the kitchen completely damaged.
A decision which South Craven residents feared would destroy their communities was dramatically halted this week.
