THERE'S no flies on the boss of the Yorkshire Dales Park Authority so it seems - invited to take part in a challenging bike ride on part of the Tour route, he made the right decision and opted for an electric model.
Dav id Butterworth was one of three chief executives, along with Paul Shevlin, of Craven District Council, and Tony Clarke, of Richmondshire, to take part in the ride to promote cycling and access for all.
Mr Shevlin, accompanied by Sharon Hudson, Craven's lead officer for The Tour, cycled from Skipton to the border of Richmondshire to meet Mr Clarke and his lead officer, Colin Dales.
Along the way, which included the gruelling hill at Kidstones - classed a King of the Mountains Climb in The Tour - they met up with the clever Mr Butterworth on his electric bike and Cllr Nick Cotton.
"I know we were trying to demonstrate access for all, if I can do it anyone can, but an electric bike?" said Mr Shevlin.
