CRAVEN College apprentice Zoe Slater received an award at the Great Yorkshire Show after being nominated as Agricultural Student of Year 2014.
Zoe, who lives in Thorlby, started her level two agriculture apprenticeship in November 2011 and, due to her commitment and drive, was fast tracked through course and progressed to the level three, which she has now completed.
Nineteen-year-old Zoe is not from a farming background which makes her progress even more remarkable.
Her college assessor said she had “a real talent” and would be “an excellent apprentice who will be an asset to the livestock industry”.
And her employers, Mr and MrsBrian Moorhouse, of Hesper Farm, Bell Busk, also think very highly of her.
They said: “Zoe is always keen to learn, helpful and has an extremely good work ethic.”
Zoe is now considering whether to continue her studies with Craven College and progress on to level four, which is likely to be offered in January, 2015.
