A BRITISH Blue Heifer, bred by John Mellin and Clare Cropper, of Long Preston, took the championship award at Clitheroe Auction Mart’s Christmas show and sale.
Weighing 495kg, it made 342p per kilogramme when sold to butchers D and A Gregory from Bacup.
Auctioneer Joe Worthington said: “We had an exceptional show of cattle. Overall trade was very good with lots of cattle selling well over the £2 per kilo mark.”
