SKIPTON-based chartered surveyors Windle Beech Winthrop have sold 7.29 acres of grassland off Mitchell Lane, Upper Settle.
The well-attended auction took place in the Craven Arms, Giggleswick, and competitive bidding between two local farmers pushed the price up to £45,000 or £6,172 per acre.
Auctioneer Jeff Crabtree said: “We were very pleased with the result, given that we were selling a relatively small area of very undulating grassland with poor access. The price achieved is a further indication of the strong demand from farmers seeking to purchase adjoining areas of land to increase their land holding."
