Craven District Council is delivering its Christmas greetings by flat capped robin this year, with help from Skipton based animator-director Virpi Kettu. While the council has been sending charity Christmas e-cards for the past few years, this year's animated offering is a first. In return for the artist’s contribution, the council will make a donation to Friends of Aireville Park. Chief executive Paul Shevlin said: “I hope the animation will bring everyone a little joy this Christmas. I am delighted it was made locally. The breadth and depth of the talent in our community just never ceases to amaze me.” Finnish-born Virpi recently relocated from Canada to Skipton, where she offers commercial animation and film-making in addition to workshops. She gained professional experience at companies such as Aardman studios, where she worked on the Wallace and Gromit feature film as well as the first series of Shaun the Sheep. The CDC card gives an artistic twist to the council’s logo and stars a flat capped, welly wearing red robin. It can be viewed cravendc.gov.uk/happyxmas
