A company, founded in Skipton in 1827, has been granted a Royal Warrant as a manufacturer of insignia, honours and awards to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

For more than 100 years, Thomas Fattorini Ltd had a jewellers shop on the corner of High Street and Newmarket Street, widely known as Fattorini's corner.

To expand the business, the company opened a factory in Birmingham to make badges, medals and insignia and is now one of the leading companies in its field.

In 1956 the company, maintaining its Craven connections, acquired Skipton Castle and after 50 years of repairs and restoration, it is now one of the best preserved medieval castles in England.

Thomas Fattorini, who is holder of the Royal Warrant on behalf of Thomas Fattorini Ltd, is the sixth generation of the family to work in the business.
