HELP is at hand for people seeking job and career advice.

The National Careers Service has a range of initiatives offering information to people of all ages.

"Perhaps you have just finished college or university and are considering your next move?" said a spokesman.

"You might be unhappy in your current job and ready for a change, but not sure what. You might have been out of work for a while and looking for job-hunting tips.

"Whatever your situation, whatever your barriers, we’re here to help you overcome them and reach your potential."

The impartial service – which is supported by a team of qualified careers advisors – covers everything from compiling a CV to interview tips and actually finding a job.

"We know that everyone has the ability and potential to develop and grow in their lives and careers and we also understand that sometimes things get in the way and can hold people back," said the spokesman.

"We also realise that jobs these days need more skills and qualifications. This means that making the right decisions about your learning and development is more important than ever."

Specific groups of people helped include those dealing with redundancy, young people aged 13-18, parents returning to work after having children, older workers, people seeking to return to the workplace after long-term sickness or injury, students with disabilities and people considering working from home or overseas.
