SKIPTON: Toploader will perform at the Mart Theatre next Friday, March 21. Its live set features all of the band’s singles including Dancing In The Moonlight and Time Of My Life as well as new material.

Skipton Music will hold its last concert of the season at Christ Church on Tuesday.

It will feature an ensemble from the European Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra. Soloists will be violinist Pawel Zuzanski and trumpet player Kirikk Gusarov and the programme includes works by Vivaldi, Albinoni, Bach, Holst, Faure and Grieg.

* To mark the end of her stint as artist in residence at Skipton’s Craven Museum and Gallery, Helen Peyton is putting together a social museum and art (SMART) gallery.

The evolving exhibition aims to involve the public, with them being asked to donate, interpret and create the objects.

* Skipton Musical Theatre Company will hold its annual general meeting on Tuesday. It will take place at Skipton Rugby Club from 7.30pm.

* Mill Bridge Gallery is staging an exhibition called Changing Seasons, which features photography and sculptures by local artists.

The exhibition runs until March 29.

* Harriet Dyer will be the opening act at My Newt Comedy at the Castle Inn on Wednesday.

The event will be headlined by Silky, and also performing are John Lebbon, Simon D Heaven and Rod Shepherd. The event starts at 8.15pm and admission is free.

* Skipton Folk Unplugged will hold an Irish Night on Monday – St Patrick’s Day. The club meets at the Narrowboat pub at 8.30pm.

SETTLE: Ska reggae band Pikey Beatz will perform their take on modern music at the Victoria Hall next Friday.

It will take place in the parish hall of St Mary and St Michael, on Kirkgate, at 1pm.

* The work of printmaker Mike Smith is featured in an exhibition at the Gallery on the Green.

Mike works through the medium of lino block printing to produce prints of birds, people, places, buildings and scenery.

His images are based on his own drawings or photographs and he has selected a representative set to show in the phone box art gallery.

* Settle Parish Church will host another organ recital on Saturday.

Jason M Lowe will play music predominantly from the 1990s in the latest recital to celebrate the centenary of the church’s Binns organ.

The recital starts at 4pm and there will be a retiring collection.

* Settle Music will hold one of its popular guitar sessions tomorrow.

It will take place at Settle Primary School from 7pm to 9pm and the cost is £5. All styles and abilities are welcome.

* Kirsty Bromley will perform at the next gig at Poppies Tearoom.

She is a singer, dancer, teacher and performer of folk music within the English tradition.

With music from The Proclaimers, the film follows the stories of Davy and Ally, who have to re-learn how to live life in Edinburgh after coming home from serving in Afghanistan.

Doors open at 7pm for the screening at 7.30pm and admission is £5 on the door or £4.50 for advance purchases at Cross Leigh Stores.

EMBSAY: The film, Philomena, will be screened at the next film night in the village hall on Wednesday at 7.30pm. Starring Judi Dench and Steve Coogan, it is the true story of a mother searching for the son who was taken from her 50 years previously. Admission at the door is £4.

GARGRAVE: Yorkshire policeman turned author Mike Pannett will give a talk at the village hall next Friday, March 21.

Mike, who has appeared on both Country Cops and Newsnight, will entertain with his tales, which promise to evoke both warmth and humour. The talk starts at 7pm and admission is £5.

INGLETON: The British drama, Philomena, will be screened at Ingleborough Community Centre next Friday, March 21, at 7.30pm.

LOTHERSDALE: An informal folk music night will be held at the Hare and Hounds on Wednesday, starting at 8.30pm. Singers and musicians are welcome or just go along to listen.
