SKIPTON: Settle Orchestra will stage the second of two spring concerts at Christ Church on Saturday.

The programme includes Ernest Tomlinson’s English Folk Song Suite.

And, to give extra interest, Ernest’s daughter Hilary will be playing flute and piccolo at the concert, which starts at 7.30pm.

l To mark the end of her stint as artist in residence at Skipton’s Craven Museum and Gallery, Helen Peyton is creating a unique exhibition, a social museum and art (SMART) gallery.

The evolving exhibition aims to involve the public, with them being asked to donate, interpret and create the objects.

All the objects and artwork will be included at smartgallery.org.uk.

The exhibition will run until Monday, May 26.

l The band, The Fund, will perform at Skipton Rugby Club tomorrow from 7.30pm.

The gig has been organised by Skipton woman Lisa Aldridge as part of her fundraising campaign for Bosom Friends.

SETTLE: Crowded House Entertainments will bring its zany show, They Came With Outer Script, to Victoria Hall on Saturday.

Billed as an evening of improvised fun and games, the show will feature all manner of weird and wonderful creations, suggested by the audience.

l The work of printmaker Mike Smith is featured in an exhibition at the Gallery on the Green.

A member of the West Yorkshire Print Workshop, Mike works through the medium of lino block printing to produce a range of prints of birds, people, places, buildings and scenery.

His images are based on his own drawings or photographs and he has selected a representative set to show in the phone box art gallery.

The exhibition will run until April 26.

l Nepali singer Sharmila Bardewa will perform at a charity night in aid of Kids at School in Nepal.

She will sing classical, folk, modern pop and regional songs from around Nepal at the event, which is being staged at The Courtyard on Saturday at 6.30pm.

BARNOLDSWICK: Visionary dance company Dansformation will perform its show, Northumbriana, at the Rainhall Centre tomorrow.

It takes the audience on a journey, through time and space, to 17th century lost dances, using digital film landscapes, as well as traditional and contemporary music and dance.

With music performed live by Alistair Anderson, the performance is followed up with a ceilidh for everyone to enjoy.

The show starts at 7pm and admission is £6.50 for adults and £4.50 for concessions.

l Rolls Royce Leisure will host another soul night tomorrow.

Running from 8pm to 1am, it will feature guest DJ Ian Ellison, better known as Wigan Elli.

BRADLEY: The film, Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, will be shown at the Film Club tonight.

GIGGLESWICK: The classic film, the Great Escape, will be shown at the next Community Cinema event at the Richard Whiteley Theatre on Sunday at 3pm.

Starring Steve McQueen, it tells of the largest prison breakout during the Second World War when 76 prisoners escaped from Stalag Luft III. Of those, 73 were recaptured and 50 were executed.

GLUSBURN: Sunshine on Leith will be shown at Glusburn Institute on next Friday, April 4, at 7pm.

With music from The Proclaimers, the film follows the stories of Davy (played by George MacKay) and Ally (Kevin Guthrie), who have to relearn how to live life in Edinburgh after coming home from serving in Afghanistan.

Doors open at 6.30pm and admission is £5.

HORTON-IN-RIBBLESDALE: Earby Brass Band will hold a concert at St Oswald’s Church tomorrow at 7.30pm.

Admission will be £6 and refreshments will be available.

LONG PRESTON: Due to popular demand the May Day Committee has organised another film night at the village hall on Saturday.

The chosen film is Saving Mr Banks. It stars Emma Thompson as author PL Travers and Tom Hanks as filmmaker Walt Disney.
