A former member of 1980s band The Jam will headline a major music festival in Silsden this summer.

Mod hero Bruce Foxton will perform as part of the Summer Jam running over the August bank holiday weekend.

Bass player Foxton and his band From The Jam will be joined by local groups including the Big Bang, Ska Face and The Escapades.

Summer Jam – which will be held from August 22 to 24 – has grown out of the success of Silsden music festivals in the past two years.

The Diamond Do was held in Silsden Park in 2011 and last summer’s Silsdenbury Fest attracted 1,500 people.

Andrew Conway and John Beaumont organised both festivals and are also behind the Summer Jam through their recently formed promotions company Dirtyboy Inc.

The latest event will be on Riverside Fields, off Keighley Road, which is also being used as a camp site during the Tour de France weekend.

The organisers have predicted the Summer Jam will be one of the biggest events held in Silsden. Music will include rock, punk, folk, funk, ska and soul. Tickets can be booked by calling 07581 498817.
