Ex-Christians and Yachts songwriter Henry Priestman will film a video and DVD for his new album when he performs at Settle Victoria Hall on Saturday.

The concert will be free, with music goers invited to make a donation as they leave.

After a music career spanning 35 years, Henry released his second solo album, The Last Mad Surge of Youth, in February and now wants footage to promote it on YouTube.

“He has chosen to film at Settle because the hall is intimate and very beautiful,” said hall manager Ann Harding.

The album has been three years in the making and features Radio 2 Folk Award nominee Katriona Gilmore (Gilmore & Roberts), Graham Gouldman (10cc), Paul Simpson (The Wild Swans) and Probyn Gregory (Brian Wilson andBeach Boys).

“I started the album in 2010, expecting to get it done quickly,” said Henry. “I had a version almost ready, then sadly my mum died and ten months later my mother-in-law died. Suddenly rushing out an album didn’t seem that high up on the agenda.

“Furthermore, I started writing more songs better suited to where I was up to in my life” Meanwhile, Victoria Hall is also getting ready to welcome award-winning singer songwriter Hazel O’Connor – and is offering a set of two free tickets to two readers.

The concert – on Friday, May 9 – coincides with of the publication of her memoir, Breaking Glass Barefoot and will showcase her recently released new album Here She Comes.
