SKIPTON: Tasmin Little, one of today’s leading international violinists, will join Skipton Building Society Camerata for the orchestra’s second annual summer gala concert.

The concert - at Skipton Town Hall next Friday, July 18 - is part of the orchestra’s tenth anniversary celebrations.

It starts at 7.30pm and tickets priced £20 are available at skiptoncamerata.com lSkipton, Craven Museum and Gallery has launched its summer exhibition, Bikes, Legs, Action!

It is designed to highlight the ins and outs of cycling and will run until September 20.

lTo celebrate the Tour de France, the town’s Mill Bridge Gallery is hosting an exhibition of photographs and sculptural work celebrating both the sport and the beautiful Dales countryside. It will run throughout July.

lSkipton Ladies Choir is busy preparing for its summer concert at Skipton Baptist Church tomorrow at 7.30pm. Admission is £8 for adults and £6 for concessions.

SETTLE: The Ribblesdale Area Moving Picture Show (TRAMPS) will screen Never Let Me Go at Victoria Hall on Monday at 7.45pm.

The film is based on Kazuo Ishiguro’s 2005 novel and is a thought-provoking coming of age story set in an alternative history.

lThe Folly is staging an exhibition, War Beckons, which focuses on the early stages of the war and the effects it had on the district.

And running alongside it is another exhibition, Journeys Through a Family Archive, which explores the story of the Riley family and their many involvements in the life of Settle and district over nearly 100 years.

Both exhibitions run until November 2.

lPhotographer Simon Whalley is exhibiting photographs from his Spirit of the Line book at the Gallery on the Green.

The exhibition - which celebrates the 25th anniversary of the saving of the Settle-Carlisle Railway Line - explores how the line fits into the countryside and whether people can live in harmony with the landscape.

It will run until August 30.

lSettle Music will hold one of its popular guitar sessions tomorrow.

It will take place at Settle Primary School from 7pm to 9pm and the cost is £5.

lChris Rigby will exhibit his landscape paintings at Linton Court Gallery.

Chris, who has exhibited previously in Settle, will showcase landscape studies painted in both oil and watercolour at locations throughout the British Isles.

The exhibition, Landscapes, opens on Saturday and runs until Saturday, August 30.

ADDINGHAM: Addingham Drama Group will hold a read-through of its next production on Tuesday.

Written by Peter Quilter, Duets examines the chaotic world of love and relationships and will be performed in October.

ARNCLIFFE: Grassington Players are back on the road – and will visit Amerdale Hall tonight.

The touring thespians will perform some of Alan Bennett’s most popular Talking Heads monologues alongside some favourites from the Players’ own playwright Keith Bromley.

Tickets are £5 on the door.

Other show dates are: St Andrews, Skipton, Wednesday, July 23, Pateley Bridge Playhouse, Thursday, July 24 and The Octagon, Grassington, Thursday, July 31. All start at 7.30pm.

lNew Zealand band, the Young Kiwis, will play at the Falcon Inn tomorrow.

The four musicians - relatives of Litton resident Barry Cliff – will be in action from 7.45pm.

EMBSAY: Embsay Players are starting preparations for their 2014 pantomime, Billy and the Beanstalk, written and adapted by Bob Middleton.

Auditions for principals and senior chorus (those over 11) will be held at Embsay Village Hall on Sunday - at 2pm for the principals and 3pm for the senior chorus.

It is hoped that the under 11s will be auditioned at Embsay School but this is yet to be confirmed.

The pantomime dates are Wednesday, November 19 to Saturday, November 22.

GARGRAVE: Artists will showcase paintings, prints and sculptures at the village hall from today until Sunday.

In the side room, there will be displays by Gargrave Art Group and by Robin Barker, who won the best-in-show award last year.

And Gargrave Church of England Primary School and Gargrave Pre-School have also been invited to show their artwork.

The opening times are 11am to 7pm today and tomorrow, 10am to 7pm on Saturday and 11am to 5.30pm on Sunday.

KILDWICK: The White Lion pub will host a performance by an acoustics band on Sunday.

The Keatings will perform a variety of original and cover songs from 4pm to 7pm. Entry is free.

LANGCLIFFE: Langcliffe Singers will give an informal concert in the village institute on Saturday from 7.30pm.

They will perform a programme of English and Italian madrigals and part-songs to an audience of mainly family and friends.

LOTHERSDALE: The Hare and Hounds will hold its monthly informal folk music session on Wednesday from 8.30pm.

UPPER WHARFEDALE: Buckden Singers will commemorate of the centenary of the Great War at their summer concerts, The singers will devote the first part of their concerts to the men and women of all countries, faiths and cultures who have given their lives in the hope of a better world.

However, the second part is described as A Celebration of Life and features some of the old favourites.

The concerts will take place at St Michael and All Angels’ Church, Hubberholme, tomorrow and St Margaret Clitherow Church, Threshfield, on Saturday. Both start at 7.30pm.
