STEETON Male Voice Choir has marked the 20th anniversary of musical director Alan Clark.

Over the years, he has brought the choir to a very high standard of singing and has arranged or adapted many of its favourite pieces.

He is only the fourth musical director since the choir was founded in 1908.

The next concert - at Woodlands Methodist Church, Harrogate, on Saturday - will be Alan’s 577th as conductor.

It will include a solo by flugelhorn and trumpet player Charles Tomlinson, who is studying music at the Birmingham Conservatoire.

Alan’s wife, Christine, heads up the ladies’ group and this year she and her team will provide meals and refreshments for six visiting choirs.
