SKIPTON: Craven Museum and Gallery is hosting its summer exhibition, Bikes, Legs, Action!

It is designed to highlight the ins and outs of cycling.

The museum is located in Skipton Town Hall and the exhibition runs until next Saturday, September 20.

lMargaret Hockney - older sister of world-renowned artist David Hockney - is exhibiting her work at the town’s Mill Bridge Gallery.

Scannergraphs: A Retrospective is the result of her experimentation with a flatbed scanner as an artistic medium.

The exhibition runs until Saturday, September 27.

lAC/DC tribute band Highway To Hull will make its Skipton debut at The Cross Keys pub tomorrow.

The band will perform classic tunes from the Bon Scott and Brian Johnson eras, including numbers such as Highway To Hell, Whole Lotta Rosie, Back In Black and You Shook Me All Night Long.

lAward-winning family band The Haleys will perform at the Iron Horse Music Club on Saturday.

The club will meet in the Clifford Suite of Skipton’s Black Horse Hotel and doors will be open from 7.15pm to 11.30pm.

SETTLE: The Folly is staging an exhibition called War Beckons, which focuses on the early stages of the war and the effects it had on the district.

Visitors can learn about the recruitment of volunteers and the commandeering of local horses following the outbreak of war, as well as some of the lesser-known stories, such as the Belgian refugees who were brought to Settle and the efforts of local people to raise money and support the troops.

Running alongside is another exhibition, Journeys Through a Family Archive, which explores the story of the Riley family and their many involvements in the life of Settle and district over nearly 100 years.

Both exhibitions run until November 2.

lSettle wildlife photographers Tony and Carol Dilger are showing their work at the town’s Gallery on the Green, housed in a former telephone box.

The exhibition, Out of Africa and into the Dales, features wildlife pictures shot during safaris in South Africa and nearer to home, in the Dales.

The exhibition runs until October 11.

lSettle Music will hold one of its popular guitar sessions tomorrow.

It will take place at Settle Primary School from 7pm to 9pm and the cost is £5.

All styles and abilities are welcome.

lThree Peaks for Palestine will present the 2012 Academy Award nominated film Five Broken Cameras at the Friends Meeting House on Wednesday at 7.30pm.

The film - predominantly shot by a Palestinian farmer - is a deeply personal, first-hand account of life and non-violent resistance in Bil’in, a West Bank village surrounded by Israeli settlements.

AIRTON: The Vacation Chamber Orchestra will perform Music for a September Afternoon at the Friends Meeting House on Saturday.

The programme will include settings by Edward Kipling of Kipling’s Just So Songs, a musical version of the Grimm Brothers’ fairytale The Musicians of Bremen and other chamber pieces.

Performing will be the Alauda String Quartet, the Bilancia Wind Quartet, double bass player Alastair McMath, soprano Josephine Organ-Jennings and baritone Thomas Cameron.

The concert will take place at 2.30pm and tickets costing £10 are available from 01756 753965 or 01729 830263.

ARNCLIFFE: Landscape artist Kitty North will open her gallery at Prospect House each Friday in September from 10am until 4.30pm.

It follows successful open days with North Yorkshire Open Studios and Grassington Festival, where many people requested the opportunity to return to view her artwork and her impressive, contemporary studio.

BRADLEY: The Library Theatre Touring Company will present two of Alan Bennett’s Talking Heads in the village hall on Saturday.

It will perform A Lady of Letters and Bed Among the Lentils, starting at 7.30pm.

GIGGLESWICK: The new Community Cinema season at the Richard Whiteley Theatre starts next Sunday, September 21, with a screening of the family film, How to Train Your Dragon.

It follows the exploits of Hiccup and Toothless as they try to protect the peace following the discovery of hundreds of wild dragons in a secret ice cave.

The screening starts at 3.30pm.

GRASSINGTON: Grassington Movie Nights return for the autumn season at the Octagon Theatre on Saturday.

The afternoon film, The Lego Movie, begins at 4.30pm and the evening film, The Book Thief, starts at 7.30pm.

INGLETON: The film, The Butler, will be shown at the community centre tonight.

The 2013 American historical drama film stars Forest Whitaker as Cecil Gaines, an African-American who eyewitnesses notable events of the 20th century during his 34-year tenure serving as a White House butler.

The screening starts at 7pm and tickets costing £5 are available from the centre.

LOTHERSDALE: The monthly informal folk music session will take place at the Hare and Hounds on Wednesday, from 8.30pm. All are welcome to sing, play or listen.
