THE Friends of Beamsley Project will present a musical evening at Christ Church, Skipton, next Saturday, September 20.

This is the first concert the Friends have organised in Skipton, but they have held many successful concerts in Ilkley to raise funds for the project, which provides holiday accommodation for people with disabilities.

The concert - which starts at 7pm - will feature Elizabeth Frankland, Skipton Ladies’ Choir and the Laureates Chamber Group and will include a singalong to First World War songs.

Elizabeth is one of Yorkshire’s leading sopranos and has often performed with the Laureates Chamber Group consisting of Diane Paterson (piano, accordion), Joanna Winster (clarinet, saxophone, flute), Liz Kenwood (oboe, saxophone) and Ruth Addison (cello). They have all have worked with children or adults with additional needs.

The group plays various styles of music from Baroque to Klezmer.

The Skipton Ladies’ Choir was formed 25 years ago and still has some original members including director, Glyn Evans. The concert is part of their silver anniversary celebrations.

l Skipton Ladies’ Choir will also be singing at Bolton Abbey Church next Saturday, September 20 from 11am to 12.15pm. An audience would be welcome.
