SKIPTON: Skipton Camerata’s next chamber concert will take place on Wednesday.

A group of musicians from the orchestra will play Beethoven’s Horn Sonata in Skipton Girls’ High School from 7.30pm. Admission is £6 on the door.

lNotts Alliance will make its first visit to Skipton Folk Unplugged on Monday.

The unaccompanied harmony group - which has a reputation for inventive harmony singing - will perform at the Narrowboat pub from 8.30pm.

lPamela Halford will be guest lecturer at tonight’s meeting of the Skipton and Wharfedale Decorative and Fine Arts Society.

Her illustrated talk is entitled Catherine The Great and Her Treasures and will take place in Skipton Town Hall at 7.30pm.

SETTLE: The Northern Chamber Orchestra will return to Craven tomorrow - with a concert of Baroque Greats and Romantic Masters.

The orchestra will give its first concert of the autumn season at Victoria Hall at 7.30pm.

lThe Folly is staging an exhibition called War Beckons, which focuses on the early stages of the war and the effects it had on the district.

Visitors can learn about the recruitment of volunteers and the commandeering of local horses following the outbreak of war, as well as some of the lesser-known stories, such as the Belgian refugees who were brought to Settle and the efforts of local people to raise money and support the troops.

Running alongside is another exhibition, Journeys Through a Family Archive, which explores the story of the Riley family and their involvement in the life of Settle and district over nearly 100 years.

Both exhibitions run until November 2.

lSettle wildlife photographers Tony and Carol Dilger are showing their work at the town’s Gallery on the Green, housed in a former telephone box.

The exhibition, Out of Africa and into the Dales, features wildlife pictures shot during safaris in South Africa and nearer to home, in the Dales.

The exhibition runs until next Saturday, October 11.

lThe Three Peaks for Palestine group will show the film, A World Not Ours: 2012, at Friends Meeting House on Wednesday, October 15, at 7.30pm.

The film focuses on life in the Palestinian refugee camp of Ain el-Helweh in Lebanon. There will be a collection for Medical Aid for Palestine.

lSettle Music will hold one of its popular guitar sessions next Friday, October 10.

It will take place at Settle Primary School from 7pm to 9pm and the cost is £5.

BRADLEY: The Library Theatre touring company will present a musical version of Wind in the Willows in the village hall on Sunday from 2.30pm.

GARGRAVE: The award-winning Craven-based Jay Walkers Theatre Company will be in action at Gargrave Village Hall tomorrow night.

It will perform two one-act plays under the heading, A Comedy Double Act.

Last Tango in Little Grimley centres around a failing amateur drama group facing financial ruin and its daredevil plan to either survive, while Blind Date features a middle-aged couple who meet after responding to adverts in a dating magazine There will be another performance at Old Pool Bank Village Hall, Pool-in-Wharfedale, on Saturday.

GIGGLESWICK: Theatre company Tortoise in a Nutshell ponders the loss of community and the rise of the riot in its latest production.

Feral combines live puppetry, film and sound to create and destroy an entire world in front of its audience’s eyes.

It will be performed at the Richard Whiteley Theatre tonight at 7.30pm. Tickets are available from 01729 893180 or giggleswick.org.uk/rwt The film, Belle, will be screened at the Richard Whiteley Theatre as part of the Community Cinema season.

It is about Dido Belle, the illegitimate mixed race daughter of a Royal Navy officer, who is brought to England and left in the care of Lord Mansfield, the Lord Chief Justice.

The screening will take place at 3.30pm on Sunday.

GISBURN: Gisburn Festival Hall will hold a late summer party tomorrow.

Performing will be Wigan-based band Billy and The Temperamentals, who are described as a fun band with an extensive musical repertoire.

It will start at 7.30pm and tickets costing £10 are available from the Delicious Deli and Cafe, Main Street, Gisburn.

INGLETON: The 14th Ingleton Folk Weekend will take place this weekend.

It will start tomorrow and will feature a host of free events in and around the village.

This year’s venues include The Falls Cafe, The Ex-Servicemen’s Club, The Wheatsheaf Hotel, the Methodist Church and, further afield, The Marton Arms at Thornton-in-Lonsdale, the Old Hill Inn at Chapel-le-Dale and the Station Inn at Ribblehead.

There will be a regular bus service to all the outlying venues for the duration of the festival with a small charge levied per trip.
