SKIPTON: Skipton Music will open its 68th season of concerts on Tuesday.

The award-winning Wu Quartet, which regularly performs across the UK and Europe, will play at Christ Church at 7.30pm.

Led by Chinese-born Qian Wu, the group was awarded the 2011 Artis Quartet prize in Vienna.

Their programme will include string quartets by Beethoven, Bartok and Dvorak.

The award-winning Black Dyke Band will return to Skipton later this month.

It will perform at charity concert in the town hall on Thursday, October 23, at 7.30pm.

SETTLE: Langcliffe Singers will take part in a Sung Eucharist at Settle Parish Church on Saturday, October 25, at 7.30pm.

They will perform Byrd's Mass for Four Voices in its intended setting within a service.

Settle Music will hold one of its popular guitar sessions tomorrow.

It will take place at Settle Primary School from 7pm to 9pm and the cost is £5.

All styles and abilities are welcome.

BURTON-IN-LONSDALE: Project Sandwich will perform at the next Concert and Cakes concert at All Saints’ Church next Saturday, October 18.

The five award-winning Royal Northern College of Music students will play a mix of folk and world music from 2.30pm.

Their music is influenced by countries as diverse as Bulgaria, Scotland and South Africa.

The concert will be followed by cakes, tea, coffee and a chance to chat to the upcoming classical music stars.

The concert series was first launched last year, inspired by the late Dr Chris Rowland, who lived in Burton-in-Lonsdale and was head of chamber music at the Royal Northern College of Music.

Admission is free, with voluntary donations invited. For more information, email concertandcakes@outlook.com CRACOE: Members of Skipton Music Centre’s folk band will have their first taste of performing at Reels on Fire on Saturday.

They will play alongside professional ceilidh band Fiddler’s Wreck at an evening of dancing at Cracoe Village Hall.

Before the event, the folk band will take part in a workshop led by Fiddler's Wreck concertina player Michael Jary and guitarist Paul Young.

The concert starts at 4pm and admission is £5 on the door.

INGLETON: The film, The Invisible Woman, will be shown at the community centre next Friday, October 17.

Released last year, the film is about the secret love affair between Charles Dickens and Nelly Ternan, which lasted for 13 years, and stars Ralph Fiennes, Felicity Jones, Kristin Scott Thomas, and Tom Hollander.

The screening starts at 7pm and admission is £5.

KILDWICK: Singer John Bruce will perform at the White Lion on Sunday from 4pm.

LOTHERSDALE: The next informal folk music session takes place at the Hare and Hounds on Wednesday from 8.30pm.

All singers and musicians are welcome or just come along and listen and enjoy.
