SKIPTON: Victorian London will be recreated at the Mart Theatre when Skipton Musical Theatre Company performs Oliver!

And making his first-ever appearance in a large-scale musical will be 12-year-old Ermysted's Grammar School pupil Benny Hick from Silsden.

He will take on the title role of orphan Oliver, who finds himself in the criminal-infested London underworld. Fagin is played by Dale Chadwick, while Steve Charlton will take on the role of Bill Sykes and Skipton MTC favourite Helen Procter will play Nancy.

The principals are supported by a cast of 17 children from throughout Craven.

SETTLE: The Folly at Settle is hosting three exhibitions.

The first includes 50 photographs celebrating the golden anniversary of the Forest of Bowland as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The pictures have been taken by photographers, residents and visitors and have been chosen to reflect and capture the Forest of Bowland's special sense of place and some of the characteristics of the wonderful area.

Also being staged is War Beckons, which focuses on the early stages of the First World War and the effects it had on the district.

It recalls the recruitment of volunteers and the commandeering of local horses following the outbreak of war, as well as some of the lesser-known stories, such as the Belgian refugees who were brought to Settle and the efforts of local people to raise money and support the troops.

Running alongside is a third exhibition, Journeys Through a Family Archive, which explores the story of the Riley family and their many involvements in the life of Settle and district over nearly 100 years.

All three exhibitions run until next Sunday, November 2.

The Gallery on the Green has extended its current exhibition, showcasing the work of local photographers Tony and Carol Dilger.

Out of Africa and into The Dales features wildlife pictures, shot during safaris in South Africa and nearer to home, in the Dales.

Voices of the Land features work by Edward and Heather Cowie, who both received scientific training but "defected" to the arts in early middle life.

A composer, natural scientist and painter, Edward has exhibited internationally as a painter and his works are in public and private collections in more than 20 countries.

In 2002, he became the first artist in residence with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds.

His Australian-born wife, who has a geology degree, is fascinated by nature, with its sound, colour and shaped action.

The exhibition will run until Saturday, November 8.

Langcliffe Singers will take part in a Sung Eucharist at Settle Parish Church on Saturday at 7.30pm.

They will perform Byrd’s Mass for Four Voices in its intended setting within a service.

ADDINGHAM: Addingham Drama Group will return to the stage next week.

It will perform Duets, a comedy in four acts, by Peter Quilter.

The show features four sets of characters and four crucial moments in a humorous examination of the chaotic world of love, relationships and why the grass is never greener.

Performances will take place in Addingham Memorial Hall from Tuesday to Saturday, with curtains rising at 7.30pm.

ARNCLIFFE: North Country Theatre makes a return visit to Arncliffe tonight.

It will perform A Month in the Country at Amerdale Hall at 7.30pm.

Based on the novel by JL Carr, the play is about two men, an artist and archaeologist, recently released from the horrors of the trenches, who find themselves working side by side in a North Yorkshire village.

What they slowly uncover is an ancient village mystery, hidden passions and the healing power of a month in the country.

BRADLEY: The Film Club will show Waterhorse: Legend of the Deep tonight.

The PG rated Scottish film about Loch Ness and the secrets it holds will be screened in the school hall at 6pm and refreshments will be available.

CARLETON: The film, Monuments Men, will be screened at the village hall on Sunday from 7.30pm.

It follows a group tasked with finding and saving art and other culturally important items before their destruction by Hitler during World War Two. It stars George Clooney (who also directed the movie), Matt Damon, Bill Murray, John Goodman, Jean Dujardin, Bob Balaban, Hugh Bonneville, and Cate Blanchett. .

KILDWICK: Singer Richie Schmarler will perform at the White Lion on Sunday from 4pm.

LOTHERSDALE: Songwriter Jez Lowe will perform at the village hall on Saturday.

Nominated as Folk Singer of the Year in 2008, Jez has packed folk clubs and concert halls for more than 30 years, both in this country and around the world.

He will perform in the second Lothersdale Live concert. The club was set up to bring top class artists in the world of folk, roots and blues to the area.

A real ale bar will be provided by Bridgehouse Brewery and wines and soft drinks will also be served.
