PLENTY of laughs will be on offer at Skipton's Mart Theatre next Saturday, November 15.

It is staging a one-off Live at the Mart: Comedy Night to raise funds for a local rugby team.

Proceeds will go towards the Skipton Under 16s' trip to Ireland.

Organiser Stephanie Harrison said: "We are raising funds to send Skipton Under 16's RUFC team to Galway - but we'd also like to have enough funds to bring them back again as well.

"The trip is a celebration of the squad playing together for in some instances for 10 years. It is an opportunity for the team to play rugby overseas, along with their volunteer, passionate and enthusiastic team coaches."

The fundraising evening will feature Jamie Sutherland and Josh Daniels, who are both stalwarts of the famous Jongleurs Comedy Club in Leeds.

Jamie is one of Liverpool’s finest comedians and will keep the audience amused with gags and tales combining styles of observational comedy and storytelling. His jokes are original and topical.

And Josh is a charming comedy natural who guarantees laughs from the moment he walks on stage, with the use of a guitar to deliver some excellent parodies and comedy tunes.

Stephanie added: "Skipton Auction Mart may not be the Apollo Theatre, Hammersmith, but this comedy night will 'stand up' to its reputation as a unique and lively venue - it's not to be missed

"We hope it will be a great sell-out community event supported by the town - not just by those who like rugby but by anyone who likes to have a laugh."

The show starts at 7.30pm and tickets costing £12.50 are available online at themarttheatre.org.uk, call 01756 709666 or drop in at the Skipton Rugby Club.
