MULTI award-winning comedian Dave Spikey is bringing his Punchlines show to Skipton's Mart Theatre.

He will present evidence to support his theories that punchlines can still be funny if taken out of context and you don’t always need a punchline for a joke to be hilarious.

He is one of the most sought-after comedy talents in the UK today and, with a career spanning two decades, he has numerous TV appearances to his name as a stand-up comedian, presenter, actor and acclaimed comedy writer.

In 1996, he met fellow Boltonian Peter Kay and sharing a similar style and approach, they formed a formidable partnership.

They co-wrote the Channel 4 hit series, That Peter Kay Thing, which was named Best New TV Comedy at the prestigious British Comedy Awards in 2000, and the critically acclaimed Phoenix Nights, which won the People's Choice Award.

Dave then embarked on his debut national tour, which received rave reviews and sell-out audiences

He is currently developing several original ideas for TV - Footballers Lives is a comedy drama based around a Sunday football team and Sour Grapes, based around a group of friends who accidentally buy a French vineyard.

He will perform his Punchlines show at the Mart next Friday, November 21, and tickets are available from themarttheatre.org.uk or call 01756 709666.
