SKIPTON: Trio Gitan will present its Orient Express Musical Tour of Europe at the Mart Theatre next Friday, April 3.

It is an extravaganza of passionate European musical styles, based on a fantastical voyage on the legendary Orient Express train.

lSettle Orchestra will present the second of its two spring concerts on Saturday.

It will take place at Ermysted’s Grammar School at 7.30pm.

The programme will include two works by Mozart - the Overture to the Magic Flute and Symphony No 40 - and Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No 1.

For the latter piece, the orchestra will be joined by pianist Philip Sharp, a prizewinner at the EPTA UK Piano Competition and runner-up at the Rome International Piano Competition 2011.

lThe surrealist-inspired work of Peter Harris is being exhibited at Skipton’s Mill Bridge Gallery.

His mixed media collages, Searching for the Marvellous in an Age of Isolation, Fear and Hate, combine his love of mountain walks, nature and the outdoors, his socialist beliefs and his pursuit of individual freedom and liberty.

The exhibition runs until Saturday, April 25.

lJudy Cooke will bring new life to old songs at Skipton Folk Unplugged on Monday.

Living in Maryland, Judy has been on the road since the early 1990s, making her own the songs and ballads of traditional Americana and the British Isles.

She provides a narrative that allows the audience to understand what the song is about.

The club meets in the upstairs of the Narrow Boat pub, on Victoria Street, from 8.30pm.

SETTLE: Junior members of Settle Amateur Operatic Society are preparing for their moment in the limelight.

They will stage the popular musical The Wizard of Oz at Victoria Hall today and tomorrow at 7pm.

The show tells of the adventures of young Dorothy Gale who is swept away from her Kansas farm home in a cyclone and ends up in the Land of Oz.

lThe Gallery on the Green - housed in a former telephone kiosk - is hosting the first exhibition of work by local digital artist Debra Kelday.

She tries to capture the atmosphere, feeling and emotions of her subjects and expresses this in colour, light, texture and shade, as well as by pure creative imagination.

The exhibition will run until Saturday, April 11.

And the Priory Choir will present The Tall Cross during the church’s Good Friday worship starting at 7pm.

BOLTON-BY-BOWLAND: The Harmonettes will perform Dorothy’s War at the village hall on Saturday.

It is based on the true story of Dorothy Lawrence, an English reporter who secretly posed as a man to become a soldier during World War One.

The tale is revealed through songs of the period, ranging from much-loved favourites to forgotten gems, all sung in close harmony.

The show starts at 7.15pm and is suitable for youngsters aged from eight.

CONONLEY: Cononley Singers will lead readings and music for Palm Sunday at St John’s Church.

The event will take place on Sunday at 3pm and all are welcome. No tickets are required.

CROSS HILLS: Classic rock ‘n’ roll will be on offer at Cross Hills Social Club on Saturday.

Blue Suede Dudes will perform songs by the likes of Buddy Holly, Bill Haley, Jerry Lee Lewis and Chuck Berry.

GLUSBURN: Glusburn Institute will host a film night tomorrow.

It will show Believe, which is set in 1984 and is inspired by true events.

It tells the story of a young, gifted football player who gets into trouble for a petty crime and is brought to the attention of former Manchester United coach Matt Busby, who comes out of retirement to help the boy and his team-mates.

The screening starts at 7pm and admission is £5 for adults and £3.50 for concessions.

GRASSINGTON: The next Grassington Movie night will be staged in the town hall’s Octagon Theatre next Saturday, April 4.

The animated family adventure film, How to Train your Dragon, will be shown at 2pm and Gone Girl - a 2014 American psychological thriller starring Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike - will be screened at 7.30pm.

Refreshments will be available and tickets can be purchased from the Hub or on the door at a cost of £5 for adults, £2.50 for children and £10 for families (two adults and two children).

LANGCLIFFE: Musical duo howdenjones will bring their No Halls Barred Tour to Langcliffe Village Institute tomorrow.

Kate Howden and Paul Jones are songwriters who have spent the past four years travelling all over the country, sharing their music and stories.

They write about life, with poignant, sometimes humorous, observations.

SILSDEN: Silsden Sports Club will host rock covers band Blue Star Tattoo on Easter Sunday.

It will perform classic songs from bands such as Thin Lizzy, Led Zeppelin, Stereophonics, The Jam and The Cult from 7.30pm until late.
