SKIPTON-based community and world orchestra Dales Jam is set to return to Clapham on Sunday (jun7) - with four local children as guest artistes.

After taking part in the RAMjam project out of the Victoria Theatre, Settle, Tallulah and Gabriel Williams and Chlöe and Emily Crossley will join the group for its concert at St James' Church, playing accordion, recorder, alto saxophone and flute/trombone respectively.

Dales Jam has a long history of performing throughout the Dales and has been featured at Clapham's Summer Fair for several years, but this year it will play an evening concert at the church, featuring new music from some of their more recent commissions.

Musical director Richard Ormrod - Jazz Yorkshire's Musician of the Year - will lead the group through material including featuring lesser-known pieces by Delius, presented in new arrangements that reflect the Bradford composer's interest in American and Asian music.

There will also be exciting grooves and exotic melodies from South African composer Abdullah Ibrahim, the Brazilian Heitor Villa-Lobos, Italian Nino Rota as well as original compositions based in Cuban danzon and Ethiopian funk in what is guaranteed to be a vibrant and diverse evening of music celebration.

Doors open at 7pm, with the concert starting at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £5 for adults and £2 for children and are available from Sue Mann on 015242 51792 or Liz Mason 015242 51319 or the Village Shop. Early booking is advised.
