BOLTON Abbey Priory will launch its 2016 concert series tomorrow.

And opening the new season will be the Peter Frank Jazz Band.

A firm favourite with Priory audiences, the band will be joined by vocalist Loretta Scott for toe-tapping entertainment ranging from New Orleans Jazz to Big Band numbers.

The Mavron Quartet - the first ensemble in residence at the National Concert Hall of Wales - will entertain on Friday, May 27, and its programme will include the world premiere of a new piece by composer Tim Raymond, who is director of music at the Priory.

Leeds Philharmonic Chorus will make its Priory debut on Saturday, June 25, presenting an evening of Simple Gifts, Songs of Old America. The programme will include Tippet’s Spirituals and some Shaker songs with piano and organ accompaniment.

The series will end on Saturday, July 30, with a piano and cello concert by Joshua Kelly and Alex Marshall, who met as students at Leeds College of Music and pride themselves on bringing classical music to a modern audience in a stimulating, intimate and refreshing manner.
