TWO Craven art groups will be showcasing members' work over the Spring Bank Holiday.

Cononley Institute will host an exhibition by village art group and on show will be work in oil, acrylic, pastel, watercolour and collage, many of which will be on sale along with hand-made cards.

The exhibition will run from Saturday to Monday and to sustain visitors between the opening times - 10am to 4pm - there will be tea, coffee and "sumptuous" home-baking and sandwiches, says art group member, Pauline Heron.

"Visitor feedback is always very positive for this event which attracts visitors from many neighbouring towns and villages, keen to view the art, enjoy the tearoom and watch and the live demonstrations given by club artists on all three days," she said

And long-established Clapham Art Group will hold its 65th annual exhibition in the local village hall.

It will open on Saturday and will feature around 80 new and original paintings, which have been created by members over the past year using many different media and in a wide variety of styles.

There will also be the popular sketch book corner and mounted unframed pictures and cards will also be on sale.

There will be an open preview evening tomorrow and the exhibition will then be open daily between 11am and 6pm until next Sunday, June 5,

There will a small entry fee and homemade refreshments will be served in the supper room by the ladies of Clapham Church.
