SINGER, songwriter and guitarist Tom Figgins will return to his old school to give a concert on Saturday.

Tom will perform at Giggleswick School's Richard Whiteley Theatre at 7.30pm.

His music has been nurtured from personal experiences and translated into sounds that have recently started to be heard across the airwaves on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Introducing

At 19, working alongside producer Bob Cranham (whose previous artists included Newton Faulkner), he penned his debut EP Your Place from his bedroom. His second release, Wake Up, went on to achieve critical acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic.

This culminated in a chance meeting, and eventual management signing, with industry stalwart Nick Stewart - the man who signed U2 to Island Records.

Since then, Tom has been developing and honing his sound in front of audiences the length and breadth of Britain, including a collaboration at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe where he co-wrote and performed in The Duck Pond which also featured his track, Mother.

Also in 2015, he released his acclaimed single, Rain on Me, which is about infatuation, vulnerability and desperation in the face of true love.

Tom will be supported at the Giggleswick concert by Shrimp - a young, emerging, local band which takes its inspiration from classic 60s and 70s rock.

It will perform covers as well as some of their own material.

And Tom will be back in action on Tuesday, when he provides the support at a Grassington Festival concert featuring Ruby Turner.

Tickets for the Giggleswick concert are available from giggleswick.org.uk/rwt or call 01729 893180. For Grassington tickets, visit grassington-festival.org.uk or call 01756 752691.
