STEETON Male Voice Choir have lined up several concerts before the end of the year across the district.

Performances in Ilkley, Silsden, Steeton and Keighley will culminate in a Christmas concert at Cottingley Cornerstone Centre on December 10.

Along the way will be the award-winning choir’s annual concert at the King’s Hall in Ilkley this Saturday.

Publicity officer David Barraclough said: “The curtain may have fallen on the Proms Season in London but the last few months of the year look particularly demanding for the choristers of Steeton.”

Mr Barraclough said: “Alan Clark, our musical director, has been planning for most of the year for this onslaught.

“Very mindful of introducing new music, Alan has been putting the choir through their paces over recent practices ensuring new items are well polished.

“Jay Kerr, the choir librarian, has been very busy delving into the archives and producing the many copies required for our choristers.

“Alan understands the importance of keeping the concert programme alive and fresh.

“Where else will you be able to hear Elvis Presley, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Louis Prima and a sprinkling of male voice favourites, not forgetting the infamous Collier’s Requiem?

“We have something for everyone and if that wasn’t enough a few lucky choir members will be performing solos.”

Mr Barraclough said that during the King’s Hall concert on Saturday, the Steeton singers would share the limelight with the City of Bradford Brass Band, performing an equally eclectic programme.

Steeton Male Voice Choir can also be seen at Silsden Methodist Church on October 22, then in their home village at Steeton’s St Stephen’s church on November 12.

The Keighley concert on November 27 will be at the Octagon on Bradford Road, with the Silsden-based Cobbydale Singers.

Finally there will be the traditional end-of-year Christmas concert of year Christmas Concert at the Cornerstone Centre in Cottingley on December 10.

Mr Barraclough added: “If you enjoy Elvis or Abba then join us on our musical journey around the parish, you will be most welcome.”
