THE DANISH Girl is the latest film to be screened at Glusburn Institute.

The true-life drama will be shown on Friday November 4 at 7.30pm as part of an ongoing season of movies shown through the Cine North initiative.

The film is set in Copenhagen in 1926 when Danish artist Gerda Wegener depicted her own husband Einar as a woman in a painting.

Eddie Redmayne plays the husband who, after the painting gains popularity, starts to change his appearance to that of a female and renames himself Lili Elbe.

Glusburn Institute will host an appearance by the Ellie Gill Band on Saturday, November 5, as part of their Funky Tour de Yorkshire.

The band, fronted by Silsden-born Ellie Gill, specialises in a unique, fun blend of jazz, blues, ballads and pop.

Ellie’s “glorious” voice has been compared to that of Mary Hopkin and Joan Baez, and in Glusburn she will be performing both favourite covers and fresh tracks from the band’s new EP Step Out With Us.
