THE spring/summer season at Skipton’s Mart Theatre begins with the return of Limehouse Lizzy on Saturday, April 1.

Popular funny man Dave Spikey will also return on Thursday, April 13, with his new show ‘Juggling on a Motorbike’. Known for Phoenix Nights and Eight out of Ten Cats, the show celebrates the 30th year of his comedy career, documenting his journey from chief biomedical scientist to comedy performer and writer.

Snake Davis is back by popular demand on Friday, May 12. Snake has performed on over 400 records and has worked with some of the world’s biggest acts including Take That, George Michael, Tom Jones and M People.

As well as the return of familiar faces, two new acts to The Mart Theatre will perform on May 26 and 27.

Firstly, The Counterfeit Sixties re-live the sounds of the swinging sixties. The band brings alive the magic of the decade, with their tribute to over 25 bands of that era.

Also performing will be Flanders and Swann Drop Another Hat, a tribute to Michael Flanders and Donald Swann, two great wits, composers and performers who were pioneers of the satirical humour of the fifties and sixties.

After their debut performance at the theatre in 2016, Heritage Opera will perform Puccini’s best loved Opera ‘La Bohème’, sung in English and accompanied by piano.

The show tells the story of four struggling artists living in 19th century Paris and charts the love affair of Rodolfo, a writer and Mimi, his neighbour as they eke out a living on the breadline.

On June 9 and 10 audiences will be treated to a jaw-dropping tribute to Michael Jackson, celebrating his life and music. The show stars CJ, who is considered one of the best and most authentic MJ tribute performers in the world.

Backed by his incredible dance crew, CJ will cover hits such as Thriller, Smooth Criminal and Billie Jean.

The final tribute show of the season will perform on Sunday, July 9.

What the Floyd is an energetic and authentic tribute to Pink Floyd, featuring a blazing lightshow and a set based on the 1994 P.U.L.S.E tour.

As well as great shows, The Mart Theatre is also home to exciting and innovative events, the latest event being The Yorkshire Flea, a flea market open from 9am to 4pm on Sunday, April 2, and Sunday, July 2.

Created by the organisers of The Yorkshire Antiques and Art Fair, the event will include stalls filled with vintage and retro collectibles.
