COMMUNITY jazz band Dales Jam join forces with the young musicians of the Ribblesdale Area Musicians’ Jam for an evening of jazz surprises and delights at Settle Victoria Hall tonight.
Dales Jam musical director Richard Ormrod has also been running the RAMjam workshops for young people in the Settle and North Dales area for the last ten years. The concert is the culmination of this season’s work for the RAMJam.
Young musicians of the area, and some of the older ones, will combine their talents in Richard’s original jazz arrangements of music from South Africa, Cuba, Brazil and other exotic places, with improvisations by members of both bands.
Award-winning Yorkshire jazz musician Richard leads both bands from the front, playing a variety of instruments and generally keeps the energy high and the audience amused.
RamJam is supported with Lottery funding, through the North Yorkshire Youth Music Action Zone (NYMAZ).
