INDIA’S most fearsome goddess, Kali, will be brought to life in words and music in Barnoldswick.

Storyteller Emily Hennessey and sitarist Sheema Mukherjee will perform Kali - The Story of the World’s Wildest Goddess at 7pm on Friday, April 27, in the Rainhall Centre.

In this enchanting show, Emily and Sheema guide the audience through the surreal landscape of Hindu mythology—a world of giant floating lotuses and milk-filled oceans, a place where gods fight demons and humans are brought back from the dead.

The pair, who have delved deep into the stories about the goddess, are ready to share what they have found in a collaboration that combines the epic, the fairytale, the myth and Indian classical music in a “no-holds-barred introduction to a truly awe-inspiring deity”.

The show is one of many events this spring hosted by Spot On Lancashire, who take professional arts events to village halls and libraries across Lancashire.

Spot On’s Lyndsey Wilson said: “Kali is one of the wildest shapeshifters among the many hundreds of Hindu gods. Emily and Sheema are experts at guiding the audience and transporting them to the sights and sounds of India. Get ready for love stories, wild tuc-tuc rides, demons and epic battles of good against evil.”
