GTS Performing Arts are bringing their show Bully! to the stage at Skipton Town Hall in July.

The show is a generous-spirited, heart-warming musical that touches performers and audiences alike, and is highly recommended as a learning experience for young people.

GTS Performing Arts are a small charity led performing arts school offering tuition in Musical Theatre and LAMDA, run from Skipton Town Hall every Wednesday.

Danielle Daglan, programming and venue development manager at Craven District Council, said: “Bully! is a great production which will entertain young people but also give them something to think about. It’s brilliant to see these young performers tackling the subject of bullying in such an engaging way.”

The show follows a boy called Jake, who is tormented by Kim and her girl gang. When one of Kim’s gang, Ellie, steals his phone, Jake is afraid to go home and face his mum.

He runs away, helped by his friend Danny. It is only later that Danny discovers Kim, his own sister, is Jake’s tormentor.

The play delves into the reasons behind Kim and Ellie’s bullying and explores how the chain can be broken.

Performances of Bully!, which is suitable for children aged eight and over, take place at 7.30pm on Saturday, July 7, and at 2.30pm on Sunday, July 8.

Tickets cost £5 for adults and are free for under 18s

Skipton Town Hall will also host History Wardrobe’s performance of Votes for Women at 7pm on Friday, July 6.

From hobble skirts to flapper fashion, the battle for the right to vote is made vivid through beautiful costumes and lively readings from the Edwardian age and the 1920s.

This was a time of extraordinary political changes and remarkable personal histories, and the History Wardrobe explore this in their unique way.

First they dress a suffragist from 1903, and then view the remarkable changes over the next 25 years, before dressing a ‘flapper’ from 1928 - the year women were finally able to vote on the same terms as men.

Danielle Daglan said: “We’re delighted to welcome back The History Wardrobe, who presented the fascinating Bad Girls and Bonnets, a celebration of Jane Austen’s wicked women, at Skipton Town Hall last month.”

Tickets for Votes for Women cost £15, which includes a welcome drink and nibbles.

Tickets for both Bully! and Votes for Women are available online at cravendc.gov.uk/skipton-town-hall, from the box office in the Tourist Information Centre at Skipton Town Hall and by ringing 01756 792809.
