A SKIPTON man has written a song dedicated to the town where he lives.

He penned the song, called Sheep Town, in about half an hour, and then recorded it at Jam On Top studios in Keighley in July.

“When I wrote the song I thought of Skipton through the ages,” said David.

David, 60, said: “I’ve been writing songs since I started to teach myself guitar at the age of nine.”

“I’ve always played in blues and rock bands, and increasingly concentrated on writing more acoustic and personal stuff in addition to numbers for the bands I’ve been in.”

David currently performs with The Average Blues Band, which does gigs around the Skipton area.

David added: “I lived in Corfu for four years, and did quite a bit of writing and recording over there; but when I moved back to Skipton, I threw myself into the local music scene and became increasingly inspired by elements of this special town, and how I related to it.

“Sheep Town is the latest expression of that. I’m pleased with the finished product.”
