THE Dukes in Lancaster is launching a 'Beautiful' autumn season of shows.

The 25th anniversary of Beautiful Thing will be celebrated with a new production at the Dukes theatre.

Tobacco Factory Theatres, in association with the award-winning Lancaster theatre, will present this depiction of life and love on a post-war council estate from November 6 to 10.

Johnathan Harvey’s play will feature pop songs from the 1960s and 1990s performed live each night by a local community choir.

“I’m delighted to be collaborating on the 25th anniversary production of this classic coming-of-age love story which I know will leave audiences feeling joyful,” said Sarah Punshon, The Dukes' artistic director.

Sarah will be adapting and directing The Dukes' homegrown offering for Christmas - Peter Pan.

Performed in The Round, this inventive and witty version of the classic tale runs from November 23 to January 5.

Concluding The Dukes' new homegrown season will be the premiere of Nick Ahad’s play Glory, which will take audiences inside the wrestling ring to experience a story about what people will do to achieve glory.

Produced with Red Ladder in association with Tamasha, Glory runs from February 21, 2019, to March 2, 2019.

Among the highlights of The Dukes' visiting drama season will be Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory’s production of Henry V (October 16 to 20); War With The Newts (September 26); Silence (October 30) and new musical A Super Happy Story (October 23 to 24).
