Skipton Music’s next concert is on Tuesday February 23, when pianist Paul Lewis will perform at the town hall. He is known for his profound interpretations of the classical repertoire and will play works by Mozart, Schumann, Liszt and Beethoven.
* Craven Museum and Gallery has lifted the curtain on its latest exhibition, “It’s About Time”. It features a display of grandfather clocks and watches, accompanied by a multitude of facts and proverbs relating to the passing of time. The exhibition also includes stories about how telling the time has changed in Craven and time-related anecdotes.
The Victoria Theatre will be transported to Vietnam tomorrow (Friday) when Martin Holroyd gives an illustrated lecture on exploring the world’s largest cave passage. He was part of a British Cave Research Association expedition in 2009 to Vietnam’s Quang Binh Province which confirmed the existence of a cave measuring 656 feet high, 492 feet wide and at least four miles long.
The Freehand Theatre company visits the Victoria Hall on Saturday with its puppet show, Who’s Been Sitting in My Chair?, a playful interpretation of Goldilocks and The Three Bears.
Next Friday February 5, Djangology will recreate the rhythmic swinging sounds of Django Reinhardt and the Hot Club De France. The group comprises session musician and composer Dave Harris, session guitarist Paul Donnelly, violinist Emma Fisk and Mick Shoulder on double bass.

* Upper Settle’s telephone kiosk art gallery, Gallery on the Green, is hosting an exhibition by the children from the Westminster Academy in London from Saturday. Their postcards depict the countries they or their parents come from, including Morocco, Iraq, Lebanon, Somalia, Bangladesh and Kosovo, and reflect their unique experiences of life in Britain. Bolton Youth Harmonies, a choir visiting Ingleborough Hall on an educational stay, are to give an informal concert at St James’s Church on Saturday. Admission is free.
Organisers are looking for volunteers to take part in the next Great Kettlewell Variety Show. The event is due to take place on Friday March 19 and Saturday March 20 and anyone interested should contact Geoff Queen on 01756 760514.
Eldroth Parish Hall will present a Valentine’s concert in association with St Matthew’s Church, Keasden. Manchester band Simply Soul will perform on Saturday February 13 from 7.30pm. A murder mystery night will be held on Saturday at 7.30pm at the village hall, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. Tickets cost £10, including food, from Judy Wood at Burlington House, or by phoning 07877 391355. The night is being organised by sisters Emily and Beccy Durham to support their Edinburgh Marathon run in May, in aid of Macmillan.
Nelson Arion Male Voice Choir will perform a varied concert of music at Kelbrook and Sough Village Hall on Saturday. The concert starts at 7.30pm and tickets, costing £5, will be available on the door. Funds raised will be used for maintaining the hall.
Local thespians will soon be treading the boards of the village hall with this year’s pantomime, Toad of Old Hall. The show runs from Wednesday February 17 to Saturday February 20, with performances at 7.30pm and an additional matinee show at 2pm on the Saturday.
Barnoldswick and Earby Rotary Club is holding an evening of jazz with the Pendle Jazzmen on Friday February 19. The concert will raise money for the Wheelchair Foundation, which buys and delivers wheelchairs across the world, and will be staged at the Rolls-Royce Leisure Centre, from 7.30pm. * Barnoldswick singer/songwriter Andrew Gilmour will be one of the featured acts to perform at this Saturday’s free open mic evening at the Rainhall Centre. The evening begins at 7pm and anyone who wants to perform should register by phoning 01282 818250 or just turn up on the evening.
