SKIPTON: Skipton Music’s next concert is on Tuesday February 23, when pianist Paul Lewis will perform at the town hall. He is known for his profound interpretations of the classical repertoire. Contact the box office on 01756 799912.
An evening of big band music takes place at Aireville School on Saturday at 7pm. It will feature the junior and senior big bands of Skipton Music Centre, the Ermysted’s Grammar School Superband and Harrogate Youth Jazz Orchestra. Tickets cost £5 or £3 for concessions on the door.
Craven Museum and Gallery has lifted the curtain on its latest exhibition, “It’s About Time”. It features a display of grandfather clocks and watches, accompanied by a multitude of facts and proverbs relating to the passing of time.
SETTLE: The rhythmic swinging sounds of Django Reinhardt and the Hot Club De France will echo around the Victoria Theatre tomorrow (Friday) when Djangology takes to the stage. The group comprises session musician and composer Dave Harris, session guitarist Paul Donnelly, violinist Emma Fisk and Mick Shoulder on double bass.
Tribute group Abba 2 stages its Bjorn Belief show at the Victoria Theatre next Thursday, February 11, and a comedy cabaret evening will be held on Saturday February 13. Call the box office on 01729 825718.
The Gallery on the Green – located in an old phone box at Upper Settle – is hosting a new exhibition of winter landscapes. The exhibits were made by local amateur artists at a craft day run by The Workshop and the display will run until February 27. GRASSINGTON: Grassington Pantoloons are rehearsing for their new half term show, Robinson Crusoe. It will be staged in the town hall on the evenings of Fridays February 19 and 26 and in the afternoons and evenings of Saturdays February 20 and 27. The show will feature a choir of youngsters and the cast includes performers from the age of eight to 84.
ELDROTH: Eldroth Parish Hall will present a Valentine’s concert in association with St Matthew’s Church, Keasden. Manchester band Simply Soul will perform next Saturday, February 13, at 7.30pm. CARLETON: Local thespians will be treading the boards of the village hall in this year’s pantomime, Toad of Old Hall. The show runs from Wednesday February 17 to Saturday February 20, with performances at 7.30pm. There will be an additional matinee at 2pm on the Saturday.
GLUSBURN: Soul band Kelly’s Eye will perform at the village institute on Saturday at 7.30pm. And, from February 17 to 20, institute-goers can catch this year’s pantomime, Dick Whittington. There will be performances at 7.30pm and a matinee at 2.30pm on the Saturday. Tickets cost £6 from Forget Me Not, Main Street, Cross Hills, or ring 01535 633702.
GARGRAVE: This year’s pantomime, An Arabian Tale, has been postponed because the recent bad weather interrupted rehearsals. It will now be staged on March, 4, 5 and 6. Tickets will be available from Gargrave Newsagents from Monday.
BARNOLDSWICK: Barnoldswick and Earby Rotary Club is holding an evening with the Pendle Jazzmen on Friday February 19 to raise money for the Wheelchair Foundation.
