Christ Church will host a concert in aid of Christian Aid next Saturday, March 20. Entitled A Transport of Delight, it will feature three musicians from York who will perform songs by Flanders and Swann, Cole Porter and George Gershwin. Tickets cost £6 (£5 for concessions and £3 for 16s and under) from Cornerstone Bookshop, Newmarket Street, or send a cheque, made out to Christian Aid, to 41, Main Street, Embsay, BD23 6RD.
* An exhibition by aspiring artists at Craven College is on display in the School of Art and Media at the Aireville campus off Gargrave Road. Called Aspirations, it includes precious metal jewellery, 3D installations, print work and paintings, and can be viewed on weekdays.
* The music of Roy Orbison and Johnny Cash will be brought to life at the Mart Theatre tomorrow (Friday) when The Memphis Show Band joins forces with the Johnny Cash Tribute band to recreate the music of two legends.
On Saturday, BBC Folk Award winners Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham return to the Mart and also making a welcome return is Eagles tribute band Talon, which will perform its Hotel California 2010 show next Friday, March 19.

* Craven Museum and Gallery’s latest exhibition, It’s About Time, features a display of grandfather clocks and watches, accompanied by facts and proverbs relating to the passing of time.
The Inspector Sands theatre company will stage a play at the Victoria Hall tonight (Thursday). Called If That’s All There Is, it focuses on a couple who become entangled with other people’s lives, which leads them into territory where love and hate are dangerously intertwined.
There is a treat for Eric Morecambe fans next Friday, March 19, when multi-talented Bob Golding recreates the “man who brought us sunshine”. The show, direct from the West End, celebrates the life of one of Britain’s best loved comics.
Next Saturday, March 20, the Friends of Victoria Hall stage a fundraising ceilidh, with music from Quadrille.

* Settle Social Club will host a Modern Soul night on Saturday. Starting at 9pm, the event will raise money for the Help For Heroes charity, which helps wounded servicemen and women. Tickets cost £3.
* Langcliffe composer and organist Paul Fisher will give an organ recital at Settle Parish Church in aid of the Aspire and Renew Appeal on Saturday. The recital starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £7. Wine and canapés will be served.
The Swing Commanders will headline at a charity swing dance at the Rolls-Royce leisure centre on Saturday at 7.15pm. Proceeds will go to Barnoldswick and Earby Bosom Friends. Tickets cost between £10 and £12.50 on the door. For more information, contact 01282 812796 or 01282 814917.
A new group, set up to develop a live music scene for young people in Glusburn, will hold its first gig tomorrow (Friday). “Glusburn Music” aims to provide a public platform for local bands and its debut event will take place at Glusburn Institute at 7pm.
James Heseltine, 16, of Steeton, a guitarist and vocalist in Almostnew, is one of those behind the venture.
He said: “We hope this will open people’s eyes to what is on offer. There are quite a few good bands in the area which are a bit hidden away at the moment. We’d like as many people as possible to come and see them perform.”

A new art gallery is staging an exhibition of contemporary ballet-inspired work by American artist Lisa Hinds, who now lives in Addingham. The Fractal Press Gallery, on Wood Lane, is a new venture by John White, who has chosen “The Rites of Spring” for the debut exhibition. The exhibition runs until Sunday.
* Local band Mid Life Crisis will be playing a fundraising gig at the town hall. Original band members Paul Coultar, Phil Fraser, John Slater and Steve Thompson will be joined by new vocalists Johnny Jowett and Sue Davey. The gig will take place next Saturday, March 20, and is in aid of Manorlands Hospice.
The Kettlewell Variety Show will showcase the talents of local residents, both young and old, and will be staged in the village hall next Friday and Saturday, March 19 and 20, at 7.30pm. Admission is £4 for adults and £2 for children on the door.
A Twelfth Night concert, featuring ensemble group Miscellany, will be held at Langcliffe Institute on Saturday March 27.
The Projecto Gallery, in Kirkgate, is staging an exhibition of contemporary photography not exhibited before in the UK. The exhibition runs until Wednesday.
Cracoe Painters are staging an exhibition at the headquarters of the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority at Bainbridge. The group of nine “leisure artists” meet each Wednesday at Cracoe Village Hall, under the guidance of David Cook. The exhibition runs throughout March and April and can be viewed during office hours.
