The Northern Chamber Orchestra returns to Skipton next Friday, March 25, to play at the newly-refurbished Christ Church.
The orchestra will be joined by the Skipton Music Centre Choir, singing two of Handel’s Coronation Anthems. Ermysted’s Grammar School’s young composer, Vahan Salorian, has also written a piece especially for the concert.
Also in the programme are Handel’s Concerto Grosso Op3 No2, Bach Suite No3 and “Spring” from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. By way of contrast, the orchestra will play a 20th century gem, Barber’s Adagio for String Orchestra.

* Skipton Music ends its 2009-2010 season on Tuesday with a concert by the Fujita Piano Trio, which comprises three sisters from Japan.
As well as playing pieces by Beethoven and Shostakovich, they will perform Piano Trio No 2 by local composer and Skipton Music president Arthur Butterworth. The concert takes place in Skipton Town Hall at 7.30pm. For details, log on to skiptonmusic.org.uk or call the box office on 01756 799912.
* Christ Church will host a concert in aid of Christian Aid on Saturday.
Entitled “A Transport of Delight”, it will feature three musicians from York performing songs by Flanders and Swann, Cole Porter and George Gershwin. * Eagles tribute band Talon returns to the Mart Theatre tomorrow (Friday), while next Friday, March 26, Gertrude’s Secret comes to the stage with a series of monologues, suitable for those aged 12 and above.
“Grumpy Old Man” Arthur Smith will entertain at the Mart next Saturday, March 27, with jokes, anecdotes, poems, songs and readings from his memoir “My Name is Daphne Fairfax”.

The Victoria Hall will serve up a treat for Eric Morecambe fans tomorrow (Friday) when multi-talented Bob Golding celebrates the life of one of Britain’s best loved comics. On Saturday, the theatre will be turned into a dance hall when the Friends of Victoria Hall stage a fundraising ceilidh, with music from Quadrille.
There is another local treat next Saturday, March 27, when Ram Jam performs alongside community jazz ensemble Dales Jam. Ram Jam comprises young Craven musicians who have taken part in a series of workshops, and the concert gives them the chance to reveal the fruits of their labour.

Airedale Male Voice Choir will give a concert next Saturday, March 27 at the Methodist Chapel, on Chapel Street, at 7.30pm. Tickets are available at Cornerstones Bookshop, Skipton, Grassington Paper Shop, on the door or phone 01756 752155. Proceeds will be shared between Manorlands hospice and Chapel funds.
Kettlewell Variety Show takes place in the village hall this weekend. It will showcase the talents of local residents, both young and old, and there will be performances tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday at 7.30pm. Admission is £4 for adults and £2 for children on the door.
A Twelfth Night concert, featuring ensemble group Miscellany, will be held at Langcliffe Institute next Saturday, March 27.
