A quintet, dubbed the classiest brass ensemble in Britain, will entertain at the next Skipton Music concert.
The Onyx Brass Ensemble will perform a programme including works by Monteverdi, Bach, Shostakovich, Timothy Jackson and Holborn.
The concert will take place in Skipton Town Hall on Tuesday at 7.30pm and tickets are available from (01756) 799912.
* Skipton musicians, young and old, are staging a concert celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Queen’s accession to the throne.
The Poppy Lollipops concert will be held at Holy Trinity Church on Sunday. Skipton Royal British Legion Band will join young musicians, including pupils from Skipton Girls’ High School, for an afternoon of popular music.

* Award-winning singer-songwriter Vin Garbutt opens the new season at the Mart Theatre on Saturday.
He will be followed by comedy sketch group Clever Peter next Friday, February 10. The following night, Barb Jungr will recreate the music of 20th century musical icon Bob Dylan.

* Ceramics is the focus of the current exhibition at Craven Museum and Gallery, in the town hall.
“Contemporary Ceramics: A Personal Collection” features 20th century studio ceramics loaned by a private collector.
Running alongside the show is an exhibition of work by internationally-known Yorkshire ceramicists – David Roberts, Jim Robison and Cross Hills-based Anna Lambert.
* Jane Gardener will talk about the Golden Age of Venetian glass to Skipton and Wharfedale Decorative and Fine Arts Society.

The Victoria Hall launches its new programme tomorrow (Friday), and first on stage are harpist Maire Ni Chathasaigh and guitarist Chris Newman.
The Reform Theatre Company returns next Thursday, February 9, with its latest play, My Favourite Summer. Written by Nick Lane, it tells the story of Dave who takes a summer job from hell to save money to take the girl he loves on holiday.
* The current exhibition at the Gallery on the Green features a collection of postcards featuring old masters from the Louvre.
Visitors can see a selection of many familiar paintings by Turner, Canaletto, Manet and others, including the famous Mona Lisa.

* Folk duo Keepers Fold has reformed and will perform at Settle Social Club on Friday, February 24.

Littondale’s Got Talent Show returns to Amerdale Hall on Saturday at 7.30pm.
There will be new acts to enjoy and all funds raised will go towards the upkeep of the community hall.

Alternative Blues Brothers, Strutt Yer Stuff, are coming to Austwick. Spencer Moran and Clive Wilson will present a show displaying acting skills, saxophone-playing and high-energy vocals. St Joseph’s Community Centre will host a soul night on Saturday.
Soul @ St Jo’s will feature 60s soul and Northern and Tamla motown music. It will run from 7.30pm to midnight and admission is £3 on the door.
A double bill is on offer at Giggleswick School’s Richard Whiteley Theatre on Saturday.
Ad Infinitum will perform Translunar Paradise – a haunting play without words – followed by Caroline Horton’s You’re Not Like Other Girls Chrissy, a French-woman’s tale of wartime love. The first show starts at 7pm.
The theatre will screen family film Alvin and the Chipmunks 3 on Sunday at 3.30pm.

St Mary’s Church is staging a Valentine’s concert next Saturday, February 11, at 7.30pm.
It will feature Sam Hird and Hannah Nicholson, who studied at Chethams School of Music and perform their own songs. They will be joined by a number of friends.
