Barnoldswick cinema rolls out the red carpet for birthday

Barnoldswick’s Centre Screen Cinema is rolling out the red carpet for movie stars as it celebrates its birthday on Monday.

The cinema is inviting audiences to come along dressed as their favourite film idol to the 10.30am and 2pm screenings – and everyone participating will receive a small gift.

“We’ve got great audiences with star quality at the Rainhall Centre,” said Lindsay Gaskell, a member of the volunteer group which runs the cinema. “We’ve got something to celebrate with the cinema’s success and we’re looking forward to lots of movie stars joining us.”

The cinema was launched at the Rainhall Centre in 2009 after surveys of teenagers revealed it was their top priority for new facilities in the town.

The cinema operates in a multi-use room at the centre with raked seating, digital projection and surround sound during the first and third weekends of each month and some weeks during school holidays.

“To celebrate our third birthday during the half-term holidays, we’ve got a good programme of daytime and evening films,” said Mrs Gaskell. “Children’s adventure movies are being shown at 10.30am and 2pm on most weekdays. Evening sessions featuring some romantic titles to mark Valentine’s Day begin at 7pm.”
