Skipton Brass Band has found a new home – at the town’s Aireville School.
The move comes after the band appealed for a new rehearsal space.
Band master Ed Brown said: “We are rehearsing in the common room, which is located just next to the music department. The change in acoustics and the ability to spread out has already made a big difference to the way the band sounds.
“We are looking forward to making the most out of our new surroundings, in particular allowing room for more percussion.
“Our thanks go to Lisa Hart, Aireville School’s business manager, for making this move possible and, of course, to the headmaster, Mark O’Neill, and the school governors for giving us permission to become the band in residence.”
The band is currently putting together its 2012 performance schedule, which will include several engagements in Skipton, including on Sheep Day, Armed Forces Day and the Yuletide festivals in December.
New players are welcome and anyone who wishes to join should fill in the contact details on the band’s website – skiptonbrass.org.uk – or call 07074 754786.
