Two more pantomime groups are taking to the stage, with Beauty and the Beast in Ingleton and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in Grassington.

Ingleton Community Theatre Group is preparing for its 28th production and again the script has been written by Sue Mosley. It has all the ingredients of the quintessential British pantomime, with a principal boy and girl, an outrageous dame, two baddies, a typical panto comedy double act and a Fairy Enchantress. “It is a classic tale told in true pantomime format,” said group secretary Sue Haddrill.

The story is set in France where a handsome but arrogant Prince (played by Jasmine Kendall) falls foul of an Enchantress (Elaine Ward) whose spell condemns him to spend his life hiding in his castle in the guise of a grotesque Beast (David Sharrod). He will remain in the body of the Beast until he learns to love and be loved in return. Can the beautiful Belle (Lucy Wilcock) help to break the spell?

The production is directed by Liz Cartmell and the junior chorus is supported by four Can Can dancers. The show will be staged at Ingleborough Community Centre from Wednesday to Saturday and tickets, at £5 for adults and £3.50 for concessions, are available from the centre or call 015242 41701 during office hours.

In Grassington, the Pantoloons are raring to go with their performance of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. There’s fun and games galore as Snow White falls into and out of the clutches of the wicked queen, aided by some rather unusual dwarfs and a cast of madcap characters.

The Pantoloons’ 26th production will be staged in Grassington Town Hall tomorrow at 7.30pm, Saturday at 2.30pm and 7.30pm, and next Friday and Saturday at the same times.

Tickets are available at Grassington Hub on 01756 752222.
