Botanical artist Sandra Fernandez is exhibiting her work at The Lime Gallery in Settle’s Courtyard complex.

A widely published illustrator, she trained at the Royal College of Art and is a longstanding member of the Society of Botanical Artists.

Her exhibition, Drawn to Nature, highlights the beauty of the natural world.

“Early on in my career as an illustrator, I found that I was drawn to the beauty found in natural history subjects,” said Sandra.

“I paint in pencil and watercolour, a medium that gives me the crisp detail I require and the bright luminous colour present in the botanical world. “Drawing my subject matter from life is essential to maintain the accuracy, detail and high standard required in this demanding field of work.

“My subject matter varies from beautiful botanical specimens to nature’s more ephemeral objects that are often overlooked – a decaying seed head, dried seaweed, broken snail shells or a discarded feather.”

Drawn to Nature is a free exhibition which will run until March 12.
